It is a Japanese house built by Hirotsu Geisabro, the Japanese fabric dealer, who lived in Gunsan during the Japanese Colonial Era.
At that time, there were many great landowners in Gunsan, but unlike others, Hirotsu earned his success through commerce. He was not one of the major wealthy ones in Gunsan, but with high-quality cypress trees and various wooden materials from Japan, he built a two-story wooden house in traditional Japanese style called “Bukeyasiki” to show off his wealth.
After independence, this Japanese house was disposed to Lee, Yong-gu, president of the former Honam Mill Co.; is still possessed by Hankuk Mill. Recently, as this place was used as a studio of Korean movies “General’s Son” and “Sharper,” it became a famous attraction of Gunsan.
